I currently serve as the Executive Director of Human Resources for the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support system and as an advocate regarding benefits, policies, and practices that would have a positive impact on employees and as an advisor and strategic partner to division administration. I am responsible for strategic human resources planning, policies, procedures, and training for the division as well as advising division managers in best practices and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and practices; and provide policy interpretation to ensure accurate and consistent application of all policies and procedures, and related local, state and federal laws, and applicable agreements.
Prior to coming to my current role I worked 16 years at JPMorgan Chase in various units including branch banking as bank teller and service manager, merger and acquisitions, training and development, and finally as a Vice President of Leadership, Employee Engagement and Diversity. I did a stint as a technical writer on a government contract. I learned the landscape of higher education as a Career Counselor and brought all my skills together to build this role from a one man shop to a team of dynamic leaders.
I am an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority Incorporated ® where I serve on the executive board in my chapter. I have one son, an HBCU graduate, author of From Struggle to Strength: Practical Steps for Mental Health Improvement, currently living and working in Asheville, North Carolina. In my free time, I enjoy writing, painting and talking walks with my dog Princess Gabriella.
